Soul Food

Cultivating the Soul: Practicing the Spiritual Disciplines Together, a class taught by Beverly Ewart, will begin meeting during the Sunday School hour (9:15 - 10:15) on January 15.  In this class we will discuss and put into practice some of the disciplines Jesus practiced as we learn together how to better "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."  (Luke 10:27)  A sign-up will be available this weekend. 

Freedom

We will be spending some time in worship and prayer for those trapped in slavery today. The human trafficking industry is quickly becoming one of the largest forms of organized crime. Traffickers prey upon the poor and the weak and use many deceptive means to trick men, women, and children into forced labor. There are 27 Million people living in slavery today. That's more than at any other time in human history. While this situation may some hopeless and too big to take on, we know that there is a greater hope than anything we have here. These are the people that Jesus came to save. In Him the lost can be found, the slave made free, and the dead brought back to life. He is our hope and it is only through Him that we can do any good.

We will be talking a little bit about the facts and statistics, but ultimately this will be a night to declare Christ as the one who saves and spend time in prayer humbly before Him.

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the soverign Lord is upon me, because He has annointed me to preach good news to the poor, He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to procalim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prision to those who are bound.
